PRSA Tulsa has the honor of hosting Jessica Marisol Lozano-Alvarez, president of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Oklahoma's Latinos for Advancement Business Resource Group, September 12, 2019, for our September luncheon. Jessica will be highlighting Hispanic Heritage Month – and what Latinos really think about it. We're looking forward to hearing more from her over how to truly engage and interact with our community whether or not we speak Spanish or are Latino.

• Potential things not to do as well as local resources
• Tips on what we can do to be more welcoming and inclusive with our Latino Community
• Cultural aspects of communication and the importance of building trust with that target audience

About the Speaker

 Jessica Marisol Lozano-Alvarez was born and raised in Tulsa, Oklahoma and every summer as a child was spent in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico. She graduated from Central High School and is currently working on her bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. Lozano-Alvarez’s career includes over 25 years of customer service and relationship management experience. She is the Latino Outreach Specialist for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Oklahoma (BCBSOK), where she builds connections with the Latino community. She supports BCBSOK’s Mobile Assistance Center (MAC) at Latino events. She also works with BCBSOK’s Public Relations team serving as a bilingual media spokesperson.

She serves as president of BCBSOK's Latinos for Advancement Business Resource Group, is a Leadership Tulsa Class 56 graduate and board member of Leadership Tulsa, president of the Coalition of Hispanic Organization (COHO), board member of Pathways to Health and board member of Hispanic Young Professional Entrepreneur (HYPE) and Tulsa Latin American Chamber of Commerce and Tulsa Habitat for Humanity board member. She also serves as co-chair of the health committee for the mayor’s New Tulsans Initiative.   She was recognized with Mujer Trabajadora/Working Woman Award at the Celebrando la Mujer Trabajadora 2016 event for her continued support to the Latina community in the state of Oklahoma. She was recognized as 2018 Volunteer of the Year for Blue Cross and Blue Shield. Recognized in the Tulsa World as 2019 Tulsans to Watch. She received the 2018 Raymond F. McCaskey Diversity and Inclusion Individual Contributor Award.  In her spare time, she enjoys spending time outside with her family and friends. She plans an annual trip to Mexico to visit her family and a road trip in the United States.

 Jessica Marisol Lozano-Alvarez nació y creció en Tulsa, Oklahoma, y pasó los veranos de su infancia en Monterrey, Nuevo León, México. Se graduó de Central High School y estudia la licenciatura de Administración de Empresas. Lozano-Alvarez cuenta con una trayectoria profesional de más de 25 años en los sectores de atención al cliente y gestión de relaciones laborales. Como especialista en Compromiso con las comunidades de origen hispano/latino, tiene el objetivo de crear lazos con las comunidades de origen hispano/latino en representación de Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Oklahoma (BCBSOK). En eventos para la comunidad de origen hispano/latino brinda apoyo al Centro móvil de asistencia (MAC, en inglés) de BCBSOK. Adicionalmente, se desempeña como vocera bilingüe para el departamento de Relaciones Públicas de BCBSOK.

Entre sus actividades y logros, se desempeña como presidenta para el grupo Latinos for Advancement en BCBSOK, fue nombrada Leadership Tulsa Class 56 y forma parte de la mesa directiva de Leadership Tulsa, es presidenta de Coalition of Hispanic Organization (COHO), es parte de la mesa directiva de Pathways to Health y forma parte de la mesa directiva de Hispanic Young Professional Entrepreneur (HYPE) y forma parte de la mesa directiva de la Cámara de Comercio Latino Americano de Tulsa y Tulsa Habitat for Humanity.
