Writing is one of the most important skills a PR practitioner can possess. We’re all required to communicate effectively in writing every day. Even experienced professionals know that writing is a skill that that can always be improved. When that blank page or computer screen stares you in the face, how do you get started? How do you approach the writing process? Find out how some of our favorite local writers answer those questions on January 9, 2014 at the PRSA Tulsa Chapter monthly meeting. A panel of talented writers with backgrounds across a range of disciplines will share their tricks of the trade, so be sure to bring your questions!

Panelists include:

Missy Kruse, President of The Write Company, Inc.
An award-winning seasoned professional, Missy Kruse has 40 years experience in the communications business including work as a public relations consultant, magazine editor and writer, newspaper reporter and grant writer.
Holly Wall, Managing Editor at This Land Press
Holly Wall is an award-winning journalist and managing editor of This Land Press. In addition to overseeing the production of the semi-monthly literary magazine, she also writes about news and events in Oklahoma, as well as long-form, narrative stories about life in Middle America.
Kim Averill, Communications Specialist at WPX Energy
Kim Averill has spent her entire career writing, winning awards as a Tulsa World reporter covering education, community news and writing features and entertainment for the Scene section. She also serves as communications chair on the YWCA Tulsa board of directors, and is co-founder of Tulsa lifestyle blog and magazine, Prairie Hive.
Mark Brown, Executive Assistant at Philbrook Museum of Art
Mark Brown is a freelance writer based in Tulsa. For 15 years, he was an editor, reporter and graphic designer at the Tulsa World. Until 2013, he was managing editor at This Land. He self-publishes Argentfork, a yearly food journal, and is the author of My Mother is a Chicken (This Land Press, 2012).
